Nina Fischer and Fuerst Night (HAN) has a tremendous show season in Florida this year. With the mare here and Nina in school up North, it was hard to get them together for more than a couple of shows, but they came a long way in a short time, culminating in successfully qualifying for Regionals at Training Level and bringing in strong performances at First Level test 1 and 2. Focusing on First level 3 & 4 next!

Meet Dolcezza e Luce (translated as Sweetness and Light), a German Riding Horse owned and imported by Ms. Terri Smith of Dallas, TX. Terri came down to Florida to meet Dolce this week (5/10/2010) and from all reports is thrilled with her. "She moves with grace and barely touches the ground," said Terri. "I couldn't be more thrilled to have another beautiful mare in my life. I know Medea would approve." Medea was Terri's previous darling mare, who tragically died in February 2009 and whose countenance is portrayed so well in Lori Day's painting that graces our living room wall today.

Dolce's sire is Donnperignon (a Finnish Warmblood by Donnerhall x Matador II), now a gelding. Dolce is one of only two children of Donnperignon's AND the only breedable stock. Christoph Koschel trains and competes Donnperignon in Europe and has an impressive 2010 season so far. This very dark liver chestnut is a beautiful type and is very engaged. In Dortmund on March 19-21, 2010 Christopher Koschel and Donnperignon claimed 4th in the Grand Prix Special behind Matthias Alexander Rath and Isabell Werth of Germany, and Anky van Grunsven of Holland, with a score of 71.625%, just 4% points from the leader. At the 2010 CDN Mannheim - April 30 - 2 May, the pair pulled 2nd and a 73.167% behind Isabell and El Santo's 73.417%. Daddy IS a star!

And have you met Enebro? Enebro XIV is a 6-year old PRE gelding (gelded at import due to a torsion). Unsurpassed in his sweet personality and eagerness to please, this young man has a bright future ahead of him. A recommended purchase by long-time friend and mentor, Juan Matute, we are DELIGHTED to have Enebro in our barn! Enebro is owned in partnership with Lee and Jeff Burton.

  Portraits by Lori Day

Thank You to Lori Day for painting such an exquisite oil painting of Medea and Oisin for all of us. We cannot even describe without breaking down what it means to be able to remember Medea in this way and with her favorite boy protecting her. This painting is currently gracing our living room!

Bridon Belfrey   1/25/2010 - JHDT Client News
BRIDON BELFREY joined us in training 8 weeks ago. Since Belfrey's owners live in Kentucky, we periodically provide regular working video to them so they can see how their lovely mature breeding stallion is making the not-so-simple 'primary' transition from breeding to riding stallion. We're thrilled with his progress to date (shown at 6 weeks)! BenMar Farm link. Photo courtesy Laurie Monroe.

Mary and Irish Hunting   1/24/2010 - Oisin's Progeny News
MARY NICHOLAS and IRISH attended their first hunt today at Harbor Hills Country Club with the Misty Morning Hounds! Mary reports that, "Irish was simply amazing!  He just rolled off the trailer and joined the field as if he'd been hunting his whole life.  He blew everyone away when he jumped the first flight jumps like they were nothing.  He was patient at checks and kept up in the field and was a total delight in every way imagineable." Irish (Kilkelly Southern Comfort) is a 4yr old purebred Irish Draught gelding by KEC Double Diamond RID (Oisin) and out of Virginia Belle RID.
